Vacation

We enjoyed a wonderful week-long family vacation in Wisconsin Dells. We used our timeshare and spent a week at Mirror Lake (Tamarack). We had a beautiful condo overlooking the woods and we were within Katelynn's walking distance to the lake and waterfall.

We spent our time relaxing and enjoying each others company. It truly was a vacation as the resort did not have wireless internet, so daily updates were done as possible, when we had access to the internet. How silly!

Depsite the cooler than normal weather, we were able to enjoy outside activities everyday. Here are some of the highlights from our trip.

Saturday, May 9th
We explored our resort and discovered the ducks!

Sunday, Mother's Day
We enjoyed a yummy Italian dinner after going to Wollersheim Winery. After Katelynn was in bed, we enjoyed a newly purchased bottle of wine!

Monday, May 11
Katelynn loved the water! She splashed around the kiddie pool. We then went for a duck ride before shopping downtown and walking along the river and visiting the park. We also fed the ducks at the resort before bedtime.

Tuesday, May 12
We went to Storybook Gardens. We had a fun time. Katelynn was very frightened by the giraffes, but she eventually tolerated them, with a firm hold on Mom!

Wednesday, May 13
It was pretty rainy, so we spent most of the day shopping. This was taken outside the mall.

Thursday, May 14
We spent most of the day just relaxing at our condo. We tried to get Katelynn to hold still for some pictures by the waterfall, but she wasn't very interested! She likes to be on the move...

16 Months

Katelynn is 16 months old today. This last month seemed to go by very quickly! For those of you who have seen her in person, you have noticed that her hair is coming in and getting thicker everyday. It's still very light which makes it hard to see in pictures.

Katelynn loves to talk. She will talk to everyone and anyone she meets. She would be the perfect greeter at any restaurant. She has lots of practice. She says hi to everyone who walks by. Even the grouchiest people usually stop and talk to her. I can hardly believe it! Katelynn is becoming more and more independent. Jason and I had the best vacation with her this past week and got to really notice just how much she changes on a daily basis.
If she can feed herself, she is much happier than if you are feeding her. She is very aware of what is going on around her. If you are dipping something, she wants to dip, too! If you are drinking with a straw, she'd really like to drink with one too! If you are sweet enough to fall for her smile, you'll never break away!

Katelynn loves to walk. She will take you by the hand and lead you on the walk. We really got to enjoy this as we walked around the lake at our condo. She would stay on the path and never try to dive into the lake. That was very nice. By the way, she loves ducks. Especially feeding them!
Katelynn loves to be outside, that hasn't changed any. She is getting a little bit better about coming inside after playing. Before she would completely throw a fit and have a meltdown. That's not as bad as it was a few weeks ago.
She loves to get your shoes and bring them to you to let you know she wants to go outside. She will also grab her jacket, if necessary. She will rock back and forth in her stroller to let you know to get moving, too!
She is really good at repeating what you say, too. She can put together a string of three to four words without any problem. I fear she will never stop talking.

This afternoon, I tried to get her to take a nap. She cried for about 30 seconds and then spent the next 45 minutes sitting in her crib, babbling and talking the whole time. So much for that nap!

I was especially happy to find out this past month that she does remember people. Katelynn had a special week with Grammy and I was so pleased that she remembered her. It had only been 3 months, but in the past it had taken her a while to warm up. That wasn't the case this time! ♥

Katelynn loves babies and other children. She is fascinated by them. I love watching her interact with our friends children. It is such a delight. And, she always has a smile on her face when we look at cousin Allison's blog!

Especially for Daddy...

Katelynn was forced to the spend the entire day with her Mommy. I know she missed her daddy all day long. I know he would have rather been at home with us enjoying the beautiful spring day!

Our morning started out with some milk and apples while watching Sponge Bob. Then, we were off to church. We enjoyed a yummy lunch with Uncle Jay and Aunt Jamie and then a two and a half hour rejuvenating nap!

We had just started on a walk when we saw a familiar car, filled with hugs and kisses from Gran and Grandpa!

After all this fun, we had to get some dinner! Now, she's all tucked into bed, dreaming of tomorrow and seeing Daddy! ♥
